# Test with Dev Mode

Dev Mode lets you render and inspect a real CDR without collecting it or creating a billable record.
Use it while building the capture flow and remove it before real consumers use the page.

## Capture a test record

Pass `devMode: true` to the same call your production handler will use:

```javascript
const { cdrId, shareUrl } = await window.ExpressConsent.captureCDR({
  devMode: true,
  autoShare: true,
  custom: { leadId },
});
```

The capture is stored and rendered normally, but remains free and uncollected. Dev Mode never creates
a billing payment, billing attribution, or collection access grant. Members of the organization that
captured it can still preview the evidence in the dashboard, including members of a passthrough
organization.

## Follow the console link

Dev Mode writes a concise diagnostic group to the browser console. It reports the resolved
organization, domain, SDK environment, consent-tag findings, submission detection, and a direct
dashboard link.

Open the dashboard link as soon as `captureCDR()` resolves. Inspect the result and ensure your page is rendered correctly. Confirm that entered values,
the complete disclosure, checked state, and the pressed submit control are visible.

## Switch to production

After the rendered CDR passes your visual checks, remove `devMode: true` rather than changing it to
another value:

```javascript
await window.ExpressConsent.captureCDR({
  custom: { leadId },
});
```

Run one final submission in the production configuration. Only a production CDR can be collected,
downloaded through the API, or transferred to another organization.
